Crashes, spinouts across Twin Cities as snow snarls traffic

Light snow sticking to the roads made for challenging Monday commutes in the Twin Cities and led to numerous crashes and spinouts.

The snow was "just enough to make it slick enough for everybody to forget how to drive," said a laughing James Betz. The owner of Superior Towing and Recovery, he towed about 20 cars by about 3 p.m. and expected to double that by the end of the day.

The first calls for help started coming in about 5 a.m. Monday, according to Andrew Smitty of Smitty Big Towing & Recovery. The biggest culprit was slippery roads leading vehicles to spin out of control.
