MNsure's Tenth Open Enrollment Starts Today

Enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1, 2023

ST. PAUL, Minn.—MNsure’s tenth open enrollment period starts today and runs through January 15, 2023. For Minnesotans who don’t have health insurance through their job, open enrollment is the once-a-year opportunity to compare options, sign up for health coverage, or change plans through MNsure, Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace.

Minnesotans must enroll by December 15, 2022, to get the peace of mind that comes with a full year of coverage beginning on January 1, 2023. For Minnesotans who enroll between December 16, 2022, and January 15, 2023, coverage will begin on February 1, 2023.

“If you’ve thought MNsure doesn’t have anything to offer your family because you didn’t qualify for tax credits before, now is the time to take another look. New federal rules have changed who’s eligible for savings and now more Minnesotans can access subsidized coverage for next year when they shop through MNsure,” said MNsure CEO Nate Clark.

With MNsure, Minnesotans can enroll in medical and dental plans for 2023 and access savings (tax credits) that reduce health care costs for individuals and families. Tax credits work like an instant discount to lower the cost of monthly premiums and are only available through MNsure; consumers can’t access them anywhere else. Eligible Minnesotans are projected to save $560/month or $6,700/year, on average, when they purchase 2023 coverage through MNsure.

New this year: More Minnesotans are eligible to save money through MNsure

In the last few months, the Biden-Harris administration has enacted multiple policies that build on the Affordable Care Act, reduce health care costs, and increase affordability for MNsure enrollees.

If you have access to affordable health insurance through your job but it’s not affordable for your family members, your family may have new opportunities to access subsidized coverage for 2023 through MNsure for the very first time. Your family members may be newly eligible for tax credits and could save hundreds of dollars on monthly premiums when they purchase coverage through MNsure.

The Inflation Reduction Act also kept larger premium tax credits for eligible Minnesotans in place and ensured more middle-income Minnesotans will continue to qualify for these savings in 2023.
