Mary Lou Stillday, Gooniyasshiik "Snow Flying Woman", age 80, from the Kingfisher Clan, travelled to the spirit world on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in Fargo, ND.

Mary Lou was born on November 7, 1941, to Louis and Jane (Thomas) Whitefeather. She worked at the Redby Sawmill, the Bureau of Indian Affairs as an administrative assistant, and retired from the Warroad Casino as a general manager. Mary had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed reading, beading and doing puzzle books and trying her luck at Bingo and slots at the casino. Mary was fluent in the Ojibwe language, enjoyed pow wows and was a champion in both traditional and jingle dress dancing. She was good friend to all and family was everything to her.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters: Rita Johnson, Frances Miller and Barbara Thomas; children: Elaine (Eric) Armstrong, Karen Natewa, Thomas E. Stillday, Valerie Stillday, Tyrone Natewa, Saunders Stillday, and twins: Jeice and Zoey Natewa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Those greeting her in the spirit world are her parents, her husband, Thomas J. Stillday, Jr.; sons: Robert Natewa, Jr. and Dexter Stillday.

The wake will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2022, and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 31, 2022 with Anton Waagosh Treuer as spiritual leader. Active casketbearers will be: Gary M. "Scruff" Johnson, Delwyn Schoenborn, Sr., Darris Kingbird, Keith Schoenborn, Jr., Trevor Kingbird, Tyrone Natewa, Jory Natewa, Wayne Johnson, Jr., Saunders Stillday, Johnathon Schoenborn, with alternates: Eric Johnson, Darwin Iceman, Oriole Kingbird, Jr., and Nicolas Johnson. Honorary casketbearers will be: Rita Johnson, Barb Thomas, Frances Miller, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be at the Stillday Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.
