Leroy "Puff" Whitebird, Jr., age 64, of Cass Lake, MN, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, in Cass Lake.

Puff was born on April 17, 1958, to Leroy and Elizabeth (Littlewolf) Whitebird, Sr., in Cass Lake, MN. He started out working as a logger, then as a custodian at Leech Lake Facility, and various gaming jobs at the casino before he found his dream job with Leech Lake Gaming providing shuttle services and transportation.

He had a passion for driving, deer hunting and wild ricing. He raised five wonderful children with his significant other and life partner, Leota Hardy. Family meant everything to him. He was a good listener, helped others when he could, and enjoyed going to the casino.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Beverly (Ed Dalton) Whitebird; aunt, Nancy Whitebird; his children: Kimberly (David Rosalez), Daniel, Yvette, Leroy, and Trudell Whitebird; his significant other and mother of his children, Leota Hardy; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: William and Sarah Whitebird, Joseph and Catherine Littlewolf; his parents: Leroy and Elizabeth Whitebird, Sr .; brothers: Eugene "Ribs", Darwin and David Whitebird; sisters: Betty, Shirley and Arlene Whitebird; and nephew, William Whitebird.

The wake will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake and continue until the service at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 28, 2022, with Father George Ross officiating. Active casketbearers will be: Robert "Jappy" Headbird, Levi Brown, Mike Robinson, Daryl Fisherman, David Whitebirdwuori, Scotty Whitebird, Jr., and alternates: Ed Dalton and David Rosalez. Honorary casketbearers will be: Kent "Koosh" Beaulieu, Bobby Headbird, Chris Reyes, Alfred "Tig" Pemberton, Raymond Jenkins, Walt "Sonny" Gross, his children: Kimberly "Kim" Whitebird, Daniel Whitebird, Yvette Whitebird, Leroy Whitebird, Trudell, Whitebird, other family and friends.
