PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The position will provide a safe and secure environment for all Criminal Justice Complex visitor and staff. The Tribal Court Security Personnel may be assigned to perform other administrative duties by the Court administrator or Tribal Court Judges. Reports to the Court Administrator, Full-Time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the Criminal Justice Complex

• Responsible for signing in, taking temperature and directing public to the proper location to await for court or a meeting

• Assists Court to maintain order in the courtroom at all times

• Responsible for completing any and all reports required involving incidents and safety issues discovered

• Shall be stationed at the security desk at entrance of building

• Performs daily inspections, searches of courtrooms, jury rooms, restrooms, and restricted areas to ensure all areas are clear of weapons, drugs and etc.

• Required following all agency policies and procedures

• Required understanding and abiding by those Tribal Code, laws, regulations, policies and procedures that is applicable to the program/service, which is being provided

• Required to report any known, or suspected violations of laws, regulations, policies, or procedures to the proper authorities

• Court security personnel often function as a public information source for persons using criminal justice complex, responding to inquiries and giving directions in a professional and respectful manner

• Ensure confidentiality when dealing with other employees, clients, and outside personnel

• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred

• Must have a valid driver's license

• Knowledge of Ojibwe language and traditional Ojibwe cultural, preferred

• Ability to work closely and effectively with families, elders and children

• Must adhere to Confidentiality, Data Privacy Act

• Knowledge of Crime Victims' issues, preferred

• Must be of good moral ethic and conduct

• Must successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and Background checks
