Leona "Cookie" Elizabeth Cloud, age 86, of the Loon Clan and Old Agency, journeyed to the spirit world on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN. She was born January 9, 1936, in Cass Lake, MN the youngest daughter of Nora (Rock) and John Morgan, Sr.

Cookie loved spending time with her family, her family was her everything. She was a mother and grandmother to many more than just her own, with her giant, caring, and kind heart. She would do anything for her grandchildren. Cookie enjoyed going to the casino, pow wows, gardening, watching "her" animals in the yard, doing puzzles, coloring books, journaling, elder events, community events, birthday parties, and cookouts. Cookie had the gift of gab; she always told her stories with her hands. She was known for making the best chicken and rice meals for everyone. A strong faithful woman who would always say, "always say your prayers" as a way of helping to instill faith and kindness in all she knew.

Those greeting Cookie in the spirit world are her husband, James Cloud, Jr .; parents, Nora and John Morgan, Sr .; son, Colin Cloud; daughter, Ronnie Gustafson; siblings, Sophia, Elizabeth, Larry, John Jr., Reuben, Elmer, James, Edward, Rose, Agnes, Tom, Lawrence "Buzzy", Richard; her in-laws, Florence and James Cloud, Sr .; and 4 grandchildren, Grant, Angel, Travis, and Baby Son Cloud-Goodman.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Cookie are her sons, Merrill Cloud, Scott Whitebird, Sr .; daughters, Coleen Gullickson, Dorothea (Randy) Cloud, Traci (Rick) Cloud; brothers-in-law, Stanley Chief, Mel (Joy) Hunt; grandchildren, Scott Jr., Saivon, SaMya, Savino, DeAnne, Trista, Victoria, Veronica, Damion, Donovan, Kendra, Kayla; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; numerous special nieces, special nephews; and numerous other family members.

A two-night wake for Cookie will begin on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. and continue until her Tuesday, October 4, 2022, 1:00 p.m. service, all to be held at the Onigum Community Center, in Onigum, MN. Father Matthew Cobb and Father William "Bill" Butcher will officiate. Those helping to lay Cookie to rest will be Scott Whitebird, Sr., Scott Whitebird, Jr., Evan Cloud, Donovan Cloud, Sr., Torrey Kingbird, Marcellus Ogema, Jeremiah Fisher, and Lenny Abrams. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Kingbird, Darwin Kingbird, Jerry Morgan, Rick Parkhurst, Randy White, Jr., Dale Tatro, Allen Hiatt, all her family and friends. Interment will follow in the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency, MN.
