Confederation College Welcomes Students for the 2022-23 Academic Year

THUNDER BAY, ON, September 2, 2022 – Confederation College is excited to welcome new and returning students to campus for Orientation 2022. The start of a new academic year marks the first time on campus orientation events will be held since 2019.

Program orientation is taking place for students on September 6 to celebrate and enhance the students’ first days of college and prepare them for a successful year. They’ll meet their program coordinator, faculty and classmates, learn about what they need to succeed in their program, and be introduced to college support services and opportunities at their respective campuses.

“We’re excited to have students joining us on campus,” said President Kathleen Lynch. “We have students joining us from all over the world this year and nearly 1400 have confirmed they will be attending in person on September 6 to kick off the school year. We also have online events planned for our distance education students who are unable to join us at our Thunder Bay campus.”

Due to the nation-wide backlog of study permits for international students, those still waiting for approval of their visa are permitted by the Ministry to begin studies online. Confederation College expects about 300 international students to begin their studies this way and join us in Thunder Bay in the coming weeks.

The Student Union of Confederation College Inc. (SUCCI) will also host a variety of events throughout September to help students meet their peers, get familiar with the campus and the city, as well as provide work-life balance as they adjust to their new schedules.

“Participating in orientation activities is a fun way for students to get familiar with the College, their programs and the services offered to them,” said Ronnie Kasana, President of the Student Union (SUCCI). “We’re finally able to come to campus, meet other students in our programs and have some fun before classes start. We hope our support helps students feel confident and prepared for the year ahead.”

Classes begin on September 7. Over 3100 new and returning students enrolled in 65 programs will be starting their academic year at Confederation College.
