September 2, 2022
ST. PAUL, MN -- Today, Thursday, Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan announced endorsements from The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters and IUOE Local 49.
“Time and time again I have stood in solidarity with workers and promised to oppose any assaults on the right to collectively bargain,” Governor Tim Walz said. “I am incredibly lucky to have partners like the Carpenters and 49ers in that fight. I look forward to working with them to continue building safer roads and bridges, repairing critical water systems, and upgrading education facilities.”
“Governor Walz has stood up for jobs and labor standards and we are proud to stand up for him,” said Executive Secretary-Treasurer Patrick Nilsen of the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters. “From leading the state to pass and implement a strong wage theft law to advocating for the largest bonding bill in the state’s history, Governor Walz has a record of supporting good-paying construction jobs.”
"Governor Walz earned our support with his actions over his many years of public service. While voters will weigh many issues this year, the union is focused solely on creating good-paying union jobs and protecting and enhancing our rights to collectively bargain for family-sustaining wages and benefits. On our issues, Gov. Walz has been there.” Local 49 Business Manager Jason George said.
