Andrew John Heinonen-Bigsmoke, “Ishkode Ininii” (Fire Man), age 27, of Minneapolis Journeyed to the Spirit World on Thursday, August 25, 2022. He was born on September 29, 1994 in Minneapolis the son of Anthony J. Bigsmoke Sr. and Roxanne Heinonen. He was formerly employed as a carpenter. Andrew was a traditional dancer. He enjoyed basketball, cooking, reading and writing.

Survived by his children: Amaya Bigsmoke McCormick and Caleb Bigsmoke Johnson; father: Anthony Bigsmoke Sr .; mother: Roxanne Heinonen (Stacey); stepfather: William Moose Sr .; siblings: Tauwhnee Bigsmoke, Anthony Bigsmoke Jr., Gabriella Moose, Nadawnis Moose, Brendan Bigsmoke, Ogimaakwens Moose, Waabigwan Moose, Jordan Bigsmoke, William Moose Jr., Rolland Moose and Mia Bigsmoke; grandparents: Charlene Toal, Curtis Jackson and Marion Moose; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by grandmothers: Carol Heinonen and Florence Peake; aunts: Carol Peake and Rachel Christenson; and grandfather: James Bigsmoke Sr.

An all-night wakes will be held beginning at 5:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2022 and continuing until time of services at The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, 2300 S. 15th Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A Funeral Service for Andrew John Heinonen-Bigsmoke will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, 2300 S. 15th Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Spiritual Leader will be Brian Heart and the Drum Group will be Little Earth.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nanette Bigsmoke, Kenny Peake, Susana McCormick, Cabrina Johnson, Megan Bigsmoke, Shalynn Bluebird-Peake, Bridgette Peake, Sam Stone, Jolene Jones, Rose Marie Roberts.

Casket Bearers will be James Flores-Demo, Theo Marcil, Mario Icemen Sr., MarKing Franklin, Lowan Badhand, Vinny Dion, Joseph Buckanaga Jr., Dakota Bluebird Jr.
