FEMA releases first-ever National Tribal Strategy

The 2022-2026 FEMA National Tribal Strategy was developed in consultation with tribes across the nation. It calls on FEMA to carry out a series of priorities from Indian Country, addressing tribal emergency management capacity and capabilities, tribal-specific resources, technical assistance, regular meetings and training opportunities.

"FEMA's first-ever National Tribal Strategy will be key to achieving this ambitious goal, which represents a significant milestone for the agency and reflects our deep commitment to better partner with and serve all 574 Federally recognized Tribal Nations," Administrator Deanne Criswell said in a news release on August 18, 2022.

Criswell offered a preview of the National Tribal Strategy during a call with the media on August 16. The video presents her remarks during the session.
