Project Lifesaver Training Conducted

On July 25th, 2022, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Clearwater County Sheriff's Office sponsored a two-day Project Lifesaver Training class.

Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies and is strategically designed for "at risk" individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering.

The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition.

Project Livesaver trains deputies in cutting edge locating technology, strategically designed methods and locating techniques, an understanding of cognitive conditions, giving them the necessary tools needed to respond to an elopement (leaving an area without permission or supervision), and to assess and effectively manage the safe and comfortable return of an eloped client.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office has had a Project Lifesaver program since 2016. Four deputies from Beltrami County Sheriff's Office attend the recent training to augment our program.

Beltrami County Sheriff's Office Project Livesaver program is funded mostly through donations. Team Foundation from Bagley, MN provided funding for the recent training class.
