Kenneth McKay
October 9, 1965 - July 23, 2022
Kenneth J. McKay, 56 of Fort Totten, ND began his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at his home in the loving care of his family and Hospice.
Kenneth James, son of Angeline (Brown) and Jesse McKay Sr. began his walk on earth on October 9, 1965 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. He spent most of his life on the Spirit Lake Nation. With determination and dedication, he proudly earned his GED.
Kenneth enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the NBA, NFL and MLB. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He enjoyed drawing Native art on picture frames, playing Blackjack at the Casino and listening to his favorite music on his headphones.
Kenneth's greatest joy came when spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were his treasures. His siblings meant the world to him along with his nieces and nephews.
He made many special and dear friends along the way and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Kenneth will be greatly missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by his precious wife Delphine (Tikanye) McKay, whom he married in 2017. His children Monicque McKay and Dorvan McKay Sr.; grandchildren DeKendrick Redfox Sr., Daelyn Pacheco, Angelina Pacheco, Jaekel Baker, Jayla Baker and Karlie Baker and Dorvan McKay Jr.; three great grandchildren DeAnthony and DeKendrick Redfox Jr. and Asher Pacheco; siblings Murray (Donna) McKay, Corbert (Arvella) McKay, Roger "Busty" McKay, Ronnie (Connie) McKay, Lorraine (Josie) McKay, Mona (John) Chaske, Anna McKay, Rosita McKay; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angeline and Jesse McKay Sr.; brothers Jesse McKay Jr., Rodney "Cowboy" McKay, Patrick McKay, Jerome McKay, Robert "Sox" McKay and sisters Barbara McKay and Georgeline McKay.
Serving as Pallbearers for Kenneth will be Tony McKay, Tom BigTrack, Stacy DuBois, Lydell "Spy" BigTrack, Myron Harrison, Calvin Thompson, Todd White, and Andy McKay. Honorary bearers are Sam Merrick Sr., Catherine Howard, Kim ThreeIrons, Tiny Tom, Little Tom, John Chaske, Art Brown Jr., Donna Youngman, all of Kenneth's nieces, nephews and friends. Kenneth had many dear friends and if we forgot to name anyone please forgive us. It was not intentional.
A special thank you to the Hospice Nurses, Spirit Lake Ambulance, staff of Altru Hospital and CHI St Alexius Devils Lake Hospital.
The Wake for Kenneth will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Fort Totten Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 pm. from City Plaza, Devils Lake. The funeral Service will be on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with burial in St. Jerome's Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
