Planned Parenthood North Central States and SEIU Release Joint Statement on Employee Vote to Unionize

St. Paul, Minnesota – Yesterday, Planned Parenthood North Central States administrative and health services staff voted to form a union represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare Minnesota and Iowa. The vote results now await certification by the National Labor Relations Board, with a collective bargaining process to follow.

Below is a joint statement from Planned Parenthood North Central States CEO Sarah Stoesz and SEIU Healthcare Minnesota and Iowa President Jamie Gulley as the representatives of bargaining unit employees:

“Planned Parenthood North Central States and Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa (SEIU) are committed to working together to advance the mission of Planned Parenthood across our region. At a time when reproductive rights and the freedom of bodily autonomy are under intense attack, we are dedicated to improving access to abortion and all sexual and reproductive health care and education. We are ready to work together to make sure we are supporting the dedicated employees across the affiliate as they preserve abortion access for the community and provide essential education and health services. Every person deserves the right to control their bodies and their futures, and our partnership will continue advancing our values and collective impact. We look forward to bargaining for a first contract that reflects these values as soon as possible.”
