GRANT WRITER/DATA AND STATISTIC SPECIALIST

RED LAKE BAND OF CHIPPEWA INDIANS

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Grant Writer will specialize in the research and compilation of Red Lake data and statistics. The statistics will encompass all aspects of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, and will include data on off-reservation Band members. The Grant Writer/ Data and Statistic Specialist will perform grant writing duties as needed; but will specifically specialize in researching and compiling data and statistics concerning the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians Reports to Grant Writing Department Manager, full-time positions w/benefits, Salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Meet with Red Lake program manager and department directors including off-reservation staff, to ascertain what statistics they keep that can be available for inclusions in a data base that provides for confidentially. Regularly update these statistics

• Utilize various sources including locally recorded numbers and the US Census to compile statistics that show Red Lake data concerning topics such as: Population with its various categories; Health including physical and mental health, crime statistics including Red Lake court members, economic status including unemployment rates of Red Lake and county and state for comparison, Education from K-12 to college, other categories as they are identified. Regularly update these statistics

• Address topics such as Arts; artist, dancers, singers, regalia designers and creators, poets, writers, actors, models, musicians, performance artist, media artist, Add to categories as they are identified regularly

• Address business; independent businesses, micro-enterprises, cottage industries, Tribal businesses. Regularly update these statistics

• Compile data sources that include national information about tribes across the country and in Canada. Studies, Reports, Papers, etc. Regularly update data sources

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field or Associates Degree with two years' experience

• Strong time management skills; highly organized and detailed oriented

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and utilizing spread sheet programs required

• Experience in working with Indian Tribes

• Must pass require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
