RED LAKE REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMPLEX

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for the overall operation of the Criminal Justice Center, including being in accordance with applicable laws, standards, practices and contract agreements, Reports to Director of Public Safety. Full time position with benefits, Salary; DOQ

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for total program operations; including resident security, counseling, case management, education, recreation, assessment, referral, ensuring safety and healthy for all inmates and staff, and diversion programs

• Develops, implements and monitors policies and procedures covering staffing, position descriptions, planning management of detention operations, security, discipline and rehabilitative treatment of inmates in a direct supervision environment

• Responsible for ensuring all program components are in compliance with Federal and American Correctional Association Detention Standards and with U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) contracts requirements; as well as compliance with Fire and Safety Codes, legal requirements and standards and practices accepted by the Red lake Band of Chippewa Indians

• Responsible for the preparation and appropriate use of all documents including policy and procedures, handbooks, post orders, schedules for the Detention Facility

• Participates in community groups to promote public awareness and functions of the Red Lake Regional Criminal Justice Complex

• Establishes and maintains relationships with all segments of Criminal Justice system and community programs to resolve departmental problems and/or exchange information as well as acquires and manages resource necessary for transition of detention operations, inmates, and staff

• Responsible for the development and implementation of training and educational programs for staff to ensure continuous professional development and motivation

• Assist with administration of the Public Law 96-638 contracts

• Responsible for the identification and acquisition of equipment, furnishing and supplies

• Manages liability exposure and risk reduction

• Performs others duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.A. degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business, Administration or related field, and give (5) years of managerial experience in an adult detention facility or institution, preferably in a direct supervision environment; or a combination of education, work experience and training

• Knowledgeable of supervisory techniques and management principles including policies, procedures, rules and regulations

• Possess excellent working knowledge or correction and rehabilitation program operation(s) for inmates in a direct supervision environment

• Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of varies economic, educational and cultural backgrounds

• Possess excellent leadership and supervisory skills and abilities to direct the operation of the facility

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
