Rhonda "Hondo" Sharon Burnette, age 53, of the Turtle Clan of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and of Bemidji, MN, started her spiritual journey Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 12, 1968, the daughter of Ronald Burnette and Anna May (Whipple).

Rhonda grew up in the Little Earth projects in Minneapolis, where she loved playing basketball with her sisters and a tag game called 60 all over the projects. Some would say she couldn't keep her nose outta trouble growing up which lead to them moving up north to Sugar Point when she was a teenager, where she graduated from the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School. Rhonda would light up the room when she entered, she liked to make people laugh, and was always willing to help anyone out. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed visiting with friends and simply catching up with them. Rhonda liked being outside and going for walks. She loved her dreamcatchers and the Minnesota Vikings. Rhonda enjoyed played the dice game 10,000 and blackjack with friends or listening to her music, whether it be 90's rap, classic rock, or country. She loved to cook for her kids and always made herself at home in any of their kitchens. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
