Minnesota's Infrastructure Union to Senate Republicans: Do Your Jobs.

Saint Paul, MN – Today, Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota released a statement in response to Senate Republicans walking away from special session negotiations.

“We are outraged that Senate Republicans have abandoned their duty to keep Minnesotans safe and working. With all the economic uncertainty that is looming, with skyrocketing gas prices and food costs climbing, working Minnesotans desperately need state leaders to act now and reach a deal.”

The Legislature’s unfinished business includes a $1.4 billion construction jobs bill, transformational investment in water infrastructure, 100 percent dedication of sales tax on auto parts and repairs to transportation, and matching dollars to maximize federal infrastructure funds.

Smith adds, “Construction workers don’t walk away when things get hard. We get the job done no matter what. Get back to work and do your jobs.”

Chartered in 1968 by the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), LIUNA Minnesota & North Dakota is based in Saint Paul and serves the members, families and retirees of five Local Unions: Local 563 (Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metro, Mankato & Saint Cloud Areas & North Dakota); Local 405 (Rochester & Southeast Minnesota); Local 1091 (Duluth-Superior, Northeast Minnesota & Northwest Wisconsin); Local 1097 (Iron Range & Northern Minnesota); and Local 363 (City & County Employees Union of Minneapolis-Saint Paul & Greater Minnesota).
