Cory Lee Jackson, 50, of Hermantown, MN, peacefully passed away on June 12, 2022 in Fargo, ND surrounded by his beloved family.

Cory was born June 17, 1971, in Minneapolis, MN to William Oshkinowe Sr and Juanita Neeland-Denault. He was raised in Minneapolis/Jordan, MN along with his three siblings. They eventually moved up north in 1984. He graduated high school in 1989 from Cass Lake, MN. Cory then joined the Army shortly after high school. He was honorably discharged in 1992.

Cory worked various jobs throughout his life. He was a blackjack dealer at the Shooting Star Casino, he worked as a mechanic in the Persian Gulf Desert Storm, and he also worked at Smuckers in Fargo, ND. Later in life he went on to graduating from Lake Superior College in 2017 with an AAS degree in Aviation Technician.

Cory was full of life with his hearty laughs and jokes. His smile and laugher lit up any room he was in. He was filled with so much love for his family and friends. His granddaughter Ember was the light of his life. He was a generous soul that would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He had such a curious mind, which made him brilliant; he would research and study the mechanics of whatever ever needed fixing and find a way to get working. He was always fixing something from computers, cars, washers, any type of gadget he could get his hands on. His sense of adventure and meeting new people was always such an admirable quality of his. The simplest pleasures in life brought great happiness to Cory. He loved living near Lake Superior where he enjoyed exploring, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, camping, and making new friends. Cory also had a great sense of music as well. He enjoyed all genres of music from funk, rap, classic, to European dance and pop.

Cory is survived by his two sons Austin Jackson and Allen Jackson; granddaughter Ember Meadow Mae Jackson; parents William Oshkinowe Sr Waubun MN and Juanita Neeland- Denault (Steve); siblings Paula (Abdullah) Al-Mohammedawi , Billee Jo (Michael) Wenschlag and William (Karen) Oshkinowe Jr; nieces and nephews Ashlie Helps, Rachel Jackson, Bryce Mueller, Megan Mueller, Matthew Wenschlag, Olivia Gartner-Oshkinowe, Billy Oshikinowe, Xavier Oshkinowe; great nephews SeQuoyah, Malikai, Jayden, Finnley, and Graham and cousins Armando Delacruz and Selena Casarez (Isadora).

Preceding Cory in death are his grandparents George and Jenni Oshkinowe, Angela and Joseph Neeland. Amongst numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
