15th Annual Red Lake Youth Conference Attempts to Bring Healing Back to Community - P2

The first day of the twp-day 15th Annual Red Lake Youth Conference began on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Red Lake Nation College. Hosted by the Red Lake Nation Youth Council , the conference was designed to focus on gathering young leaders and community members from the surrounding areas to create an environment of healing, utilizing culture and traditional teachings.

During this two-day conference topics of discussion include leadership skills, indigenous tea identification, indigenous yoga instruction, reconnecting with plant relatives and workshops concentrated on traditional men's and women's teachings.

Breakout workshops included the following presenters: Athena Cloud- Red Lake, MN, Sheldon Smith- Rio Rancho, NM, James Pakootas- Spokane, WA, Giwiitaa Staff- Red Lake, MN, Winona & Aazhide-giizhig Kingbird- Red Lake, MN, Allen Hardy- Cass Lake, MN, Awanook Bratvold- Red Lake, MN, Elizabeth Strong- Red Lake, MN, Brendan Strong- Red Lake, MN and Winona & Sunny Boado- Kiikaapoa Territory

A Meet & Greet with Special Guests was planned, Entertainment and Comedy Night and Hoop Medicine Basketball Camp.
