Red Lake School Board Regular Board Meeting held on April 20, 2022

Filing dates set for School Board Election to be held on November 8, 2022

The Red Lake School Board held it's regular meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2 PM in the Administration Board Room.

Present at the meeting were Chairman Michael Barrett and Directors Jack Desjarlait, Marcus Tyler and Robert Pemberton. Marcus Tyler was appointed to act as Clerk for the meeting.

Reports were presented to the Board by the Superintendent, Business Manager, Ojibwe Education Steward, Special Services, Human Resources, Building and Grounds, Food Service, Transportation, Security, Elementary Complex, Secondary Complex, Ponemah School, Activities Coordinator, Digital Marketing and Technology.

Some of the highlights of the reports included a statement by the Superintendent pertaining to retro-pay for non-certified staff, Food Service would be serving bison burgers, wild rice, hominy, corn-on-the-cob and berries as a line option for more indigenous focused meals, about 20 seniors were on track to graduate this year, and summer school program plans.

Bills were approved in the amount of $2,460207.30, and a Resolution 2022-01 relating to choosing nominees Election to the school board and calling for the School District Primary Eection.

Four members of the board will have their terms expire in January 2023. Those members are Barb Thomas, Roy Nelson, Rob McClain and Marcus Tyler.

The Board finished up the meeting with a presentation by MSBA Executive Search Services on School Board Interview Training and Preparation for new Red Lake Superintendent of Schools and adjourned at 3:57 PM.

NOTICE OF FILING DATES FOR ELECTION TO THE SCHOOL BOARD

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 38

RED LAKE SCHOOLS

STATE OF MINNESOTA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 38 shall begin on May 17, 2022 and shall close at 5:00 o'clock p.m. on May 31, 2022

The primary election shall be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. The eight candidates with the largest number of votes in the primary election will move on to the general election.

The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. At that election, four (4) members will be elected to the school board for terms of (4) years each.

Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, Office of the Superintendent, District Administration Office, Red Lake, MN. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election.

The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o'clock p.m. on May 31, 2022.
