RLNC President's Club of Excellence Visits Washington, D.C.

(Red Lake, March 25, 2022) - For the first time in two years, Red Lake Nation College (RLNC) President's Club of Excellence was able to take members to the AIHEC 2022 Legislative Summit, held March 14-18 in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the trip was to meet with Congressional delegations to represent and advocate for Tribal Colleges and Universities.

"I was so proud of our RLNC students for representing our Tribe and college so well," said Chief Dan King, RLNC President and Hereditary Chief of the Red Lake Nation. According to King, the group met with Senator Tina Smith (D-MN). "She was greatly impressed with our students and was deeply moved by their stories of overcoming adversity to succeed in college."

The President's Club of Excellence consists of full-time students with at least 12 credits and a 3.7 to 4.0 GPA. This year's members are; Clay Byington, Justin Heminger, Clara Johnson, and Mitchell Johnson. These students are personally mentored by President King, receive leadership training, and have the opportunity to travel and represent RLNC at various events.

"Our future Red Lake Tribal leadership is in great hands with students like these," said King. "All of these students have perfect 4.0 GPA's! We have many success stories like this at RLNC and in Red Lake."
