Thomas "Tom" J. Jones, age 54, of Cass Lake, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Neilson Place in Bemidji, under the care of Sanford Hospice.

Thomas John Jones was born on October 21, 1967 in Mankato, MN, to Wilfred Jones and Donna Murray. Tom graduated from Walker High School with the class of 1985 and furthered his education to be a legal secretary at the Leech Lake Tribal College in Cass Lake. Following graduation, Tom served as a secretary for the Leech Lake Tribe for about 10 years. He then decided to attend Northwest Technical College in Bemidji and graduated with an automotive degree. Tom worked for Tim's Repair Shop in Cass Lake for almost 8 years before decided to make a career change. He graduated from Bemidji State University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in substance abuse psychology. Tom then worked at the Ahnji-Be-Mah-Diz-Halfway House (?) as a counselor until his health began to fail.

Tom loved spending time outdoors while hunting, fishing, and walking in the woods. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, listening to music, and admiring sport and muscle cars. Tom's family and friends enjoyed his cooking skills, feasting of fish and wild game meals. He was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews, teaching them how to cook and spending time with them. He was known for his fun-loving personality and his love of telling jokes and pranks. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Tom is survived by his siblings: Dan Murray of Mahnomen, MN, Paul (Christina) Anderson of Mahnomen, Vera (Mark) Martin of Nisland, SD, and Jamie (Kayce Lynn) Jones of Bagley, MN; nieces and nephews: Alex (Laura) Anderson, Christopher, Paige, and K.C. Weaver, and Chase Lee and Jamie Lynn Jones; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Wildred; mother, Donna; grandparents: Edward Murray, Mary Murray, and Vi McFarlene; aunts and uncles, Judy Toppings, Leo Murray, and Grace Anderson.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush, MN.
