PRIMARY FUNCTION:

an Agriculture Technician to help solve the issue of how we will feed future generations and expand our

economic development opportunities. The Agriculture Technician is responsible for specific activities to meet

our goals, offering training in agriculture/horticulture. Reports to Agriculture Director. Full-time position with

benefits. Salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Assist with cultivation, production & manufacturing of value-added products

• Be punctual and ready to work at the designated time

• Aid in the future development of the Agriculture Department Training Facility for outdoor cultivation

• Assist in the cultivation of crops from seed to harvest

• Assist with crop maintenance, including but not limited to weeding, harvesting, identifying needs & abnormal characteristics of the crops

• Ensure plants receive proper care and attention

• Maintains the cleanliness of growing areas and may assist in monitoring and documenting plant growth

• Ensure that the growth requirements of plants are consistently met through constant monitoring and responsiveness

• Work together as a team in accomplishing large tasks

• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices

• Completes assigned duties within established time-frame

• Contribute to a fun, team-oriented, and challenging work environment in an innovative and pioneering atmosphere

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Reliability and Trustworthiness

• Education/certification or experience with agriculture/horticulture +

• Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance

• Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test and background check

• Abide by the Oshkiimaajitahdah Zero Tolerance Policy and Confidential Policy

• Ability to think creatively, with organizational skills+

• Physical requirements include standing, bending, and lifting 50 pounds, pushing carts and wheelbarrows, carrying flats and pots

• Willingness to learn, follow directions and ask questions as needed

• Ability to work efficiently and meet time requirements

• Availability to work occasional weekends and holidays

• Must have reliable transportation

• Native American Preference
