Cass Lake-Bena's state run ends at the hands of MIB

ST. PAUL – It’s a bad idea to make a good team mad.

Mountain Iron-Buhl entered the Class A state tournament bracket as the top seed and a heavy favorite for the state title. But an upset loss to unseeded Minneota in Thursday’s quarterfinals dropped the Rangers into the consolation bracket.

They took out their frustrations on the Cass Lake-Bena girls basketball team on Friday at Concordia-St. Paul, pounding the Panthers 54-21 in the first half and coasting to an 81-34 win that put an end to CLB’s special season.
