COMMUNITY COORDINATOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Coordinate program services to ensure community needs are being met based on self-defined needs. Reports to Equay Wiigamig Director, full-time position w/benefits, hourly; DOQ with 90-day probation
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Provide assistance that will benefit and grow community relationships
• Provide resources for self-defined needs and make referrals to necessary department to enhance participant services
• Support advocates with materials regarding culturally sensitive advocacy and guidance when needed.
• Execute strategies for effective communication with community members
• Maintaining and creating high quality relationships with organization staff, community programs and members.
• Assist staff with intervention sessions to include but not limited to: singing, drumming, regalia making, cultural ceremonies, seasonal encampments, etc.
• Assist with providing connections to cultural resources
• Assist staff with creating a calendar of events that fit the needs of community members on a weekly basis
• Work in conjunction with Law Enforcement/Tribal Courts/Chemical Health to assist community members
• Be respectful of coworkers; willing to share knowledge gained to help another learn
• Responsible for overseeing staff and building operations
• Assist staff in maintaining accurate and up to date activity logs
• Submit monthly reports to Director
• Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• GED/High School Diploma and at least 1 year of supervisory experience
• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's license and auto insurance
• Demonstrate commitment to community cultural ventures
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Must possess knowledge of traditional, cultural practices that promote a good healthy lifestyle or "good life" as it is referred to in our teachings
• Must possess the ability to work in a team approach with the willingness to work collaboratively with various programs
• Must be able to work Evenings and Weekends when needed
• Must have advocacy experience and/or training that address services for victims of abuse/violence
• Must adhere to Confidentiality, Data Privacy Act
• Must abide by the program's Code of Ethics
• Must submit to random drug testing
• Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test and background check
