Carmen Annette Green

November 23, 1961 ~ March 2, 2022 (age 60)

Carmen Annette Green "Bawaatigwaabookwe" (Rushing Water Woman), of the Bear Clan, age 60, of Cohasset, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at St. Johns Hospital, St. Paul, MN.

Carmen was born on November 23, 1961 to Thelberta Ann Lussier and Walter Daniel Graves Jr. in Red Lake, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school on the Red Lake Reservation. She was a popular student and enjoyed having fun as a child. She moved to Minneapolis when she was a teenager where she attended high school.

One of the greatest moments of her life was the day she became a mother. She took so much pride in caring for her young daughters Deanna and Shannon when they were small. She was one of the most incredible mothers ever, as she deeply loved her children.

She met Richard Mark Green Sr. and fell deeply in love with him, as he was her soulmate. They created one son, Mark Daniel Green. They were married on May 3, 1985 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The love they shared was beyond comprehension. Her life was changed the day he passed away. Although losing her husband caused her incredible heartbreak, she endured on with her life for her children.

Carmen lived and worked in Minneapolis for several years as she raised her children. She was very social and created many, many lifetime friends who are extremely fond of her spirit. She was a talented artist, baking some of the most beautiful cakes. She loved to spend time with her family, watching movies, listening to music, checking out TikToks, cooking, baking, and laughing until we cried. Her presence was a brilliant light in the lives of so many people. The loves of her life were her grandchildren; Breanna, Devany, Ogimaakwe, Nigozis, Kota, Ava, Indigo, and Ziigwan. There was not anything she wouldn't do for any of them.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Mark Green Sr.; father Walter Graves, Jr.; sister Gloreen Kay Graves; brothers Gregory Graves, Kevin Graves, and Donald Graves Jr.; and nephew Tyler Graves. She is survived by her mother Thelberta Ann Lussier; biological father Donald Graves Sr.; daughters Deanna StandingCloud-Green and Shannon Leigh StandingCloud-Green; son Mark Daniel Green; sister Karen Graves; and brother Luke Paul Graves.
