Carol Jean (Pemberton) Kingbird, of Mission,Minnesota, began her journey to the Spirit World on February 13, 2022.

Carol was born on June 28, 1943 to Alfred Pemberton and Susan (Whitebird) Pemberton in Cass Lake, MN. She grew up in Mission and attended school in Cass Lake. Carol was married to Sidney Kingbird in 1961 at the Cass Lake Episcopal Camp. She and Sidney started their family and moved to Los Angeles. In 1964, they returned to Minnesota and settled in Minneapolis, where they raised their family and lived until moving back "Up North" in 2000.

Some of Carol's favorite activities were bowling, golf, bingo, and visiting with her friends. She loved to go to rummage sales and get good deals. She was a great cook who always made sure that everyone who visited her home left with a full belly. She and Sidney enjoyed attending local high school basketball games and were presented with the title of "Superfans" for their dedicated support of the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers.

Carol will be sadly missed by her children, Donna Kingbird, Lance Kingbird Sr., and Dawn Kingbird, all of Mission, granddaughters that she raised, Flower (Patrick) Kingbird and Frances Kingbird, of Bemidji, great grandsons that she raised, Randolph Pacheco III and Dezmond Ramirez of Bemidji, great grandchildren that cared for her in her final years, Cesar Benitez, Damien Benitez, and Rosa Benitez, all of Mission, her brother, Alfred "Tig" (Sally) Pemberton of Mission, her sister, Bernice "Aubbie" Pemberton, of Mission, special son, Rory Martin Sr., of Bemidji, longtime friend, Geneva Lawrence, of Cass Lake, as well as 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She will be welcomed into the spirit world by her parents, Alfred Pemberton and Susan (Whitebird) Pemberton, her mother in law, Delma Kingbird, her husband, Sidney Kingbird, her childhood best friend/ sister-in-law, Della Kingbird, sister-in-law, Loretta (Kingbird) Brown, her best friends, Carrie Thompson and Tony Wells, special son, Todd Roy Sr., a nephew, Alfred Raymond Pemberton, a niece, Roxanne Pemberton, a great niece, Jordan Pemberton, and two grandsons, Brandon Madigan and Patrick Haugen Jr.

Services will be held at the Mission Community Center, beginning with a visitation on Thursday, February 17 at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18 at 11 AM with Father William Butcher officiating. Burial will be at the Prince of Peace Cemetery in Mission at a later date. Pallbearers will be Marcus Burris, Patrick Haugen, Randolph Pacheco III, Dezmond Ramirez, Ryan Connor, and Lance Kingbird Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
