Rich Stanek Lies About Use of Racial Slurs

MINNESOTA- On February 1st, during an interview on KSTP, conservative candidate for governor, Rich Stanek, denied his use of racial slurs during his time as a police officer.

“Rich Stanek only just announced his candidacy for governor today and he’s already lying and refusing to take responsibility for his harmful, offensive actions,” said Executive Director of Alliance for a Better Minnesota, Marissa Luna. “Stanek can lie about his past, but it only continues to prove that he is wrong and dangerous for Minnesota.”

Stanek was forced to resign as Public Safety Commissioner under Governor Pawlenty’s administration when he was exposed for his use of the N-word.

During a court deposition in 2004, Stanek admitted to using racial slurs. When asked under oath, he claimed that using the N-word inside his home was “his business.”

Stanek’s statement on KSTP contradicts his statements under oath in 2004.
