Toni Marie Stillday, "Anangokwe" (Morning Star Lady), age 55, formerly of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Toni was born on June 5, 1966, in East Los Angeles, California, to Anthony John and Rose Marie (Bugg) Stillday. She was a very smart, gifted young woman who, after graduating from high school in Red Lake, attended Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth and earned her Juris Doctor. She served as a criminal justice attorney in Red Lake, a prosecutor in the Red Lake court system, and a lawyer for the child protection service. Toni then changed direction and went to work as a liaison to the State of Minnesota for the Red Lake Nation and later became their Ambassador. She recently retired to take care of her granddaughter Akirah, whom she cherished.

Toni is remembered as a bright, smart woman who loved following her native traditions. In a poem she wrote she says that in every way, she is Anishinaabekwe. People loved to be around her. She was outspoken and is remembered as an influencer of people, helping them to always become achievers and to become better than they were. Toni will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her Red Lake Nation.

Toni is reunited in the spirit world with her mother and father, Rose and Anthony. She is survived by her daughter Breanna Beston, granddaughter Akirah Beston, brother Marshall Stillday, sister Tammy Stillday, and many other family members and friends.
