Misty Fawn Begay “Chan Nupa Win”, age 49 of Vermillion, SD was led by the angels to meet Jesus to join her daughters Shaylauna and Maliyah, her mom Delores and little brother Paul.

Misty was born on June 25, 1972 to Sam K. Begay and Delores (Wilson) Larson. She attended Westside Elementary, Sisseton Middle School then Tiospa Zina Tribal School. Misty attended United Tribe Technical College and graduated with her Associates Degree in Early Childhood. She continued her education and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood. Misty had a love for children and became a teacher, she taught in Bismarck, ND, moved back home to Sisseton, SD and worked for JOM Program.

In 1995, Misty met Shane Roach Sr. and to this union they were blessed with Shaylauna and Shane Roach Jr.

While Misty attended school in North Dakota, she met Marcus Provencial and to this union they were blessed with Teyana and Maliyah.

She loved to traditional dance and was crowned Little Miss Sisseton Wahpeton and Little Miss NAVA (Native American Veterans Association) Princess. She traveled to many Pow-Wows with her grandmother Helen to represent the Tribe.

Misty is preceded in death by her daughters Shaylauna and Maliyah; her mother Delores (Wilson) Larson; her little brother Paul Begay; paternal grandparents Paul and Mary Begay; maternal grandparents Nathan Wilson and Helen (Eagle) Redday; uncles Richard “Duke” Wilson, Francis Wilson, Baine Wilson, Nathaniel “Bobby” Wilson, Elroy “Sammy” Wilson, Floyd Redday, Dennis Redday Sr., Roger Redday Sr., Darren Redday, Oliver Redday, Gordon Redday Sr., Dale Begay, Billy Attaki, Dan Attaki, Allen Bahe, Lawrence Attaki, Phillip Attaki and Guy Yazzie; aunts Shirley (Wilson) Limpy, Brenda Wilson, Gyla Redday, Brenda Redday, Betty Attaki & Helen (Attaki) Lander; cousins Kristie Rae Hart, Vernon Renville Jr., Ronnie Oakie, Cecil Oakie, Christopher Oakie and Kathleen “Pookie” Dwarf.

She is survived by her son Shane Roach Jr. and her daughter Teyana Provencial; her father Sam K. Begay; sisters Robin Begay and Elvonna Begay; step-dad Terry Larson; half-sister Angelita Canku; Hunka Dad John Eagle; 13 nieces and nephews; and her most precious gifts of all, her grandbabies Azyala and Shaun; other relatives and friends.

Honorary casket bearers are Elena Wilson, Tami Redday, Gerri Renville, Lexy Barse, Zonnie Oakie, JR Oakie, Dalbert Begay & Family, Dorena Begay, Daryl Begay, Darrellene Begay, Dalphina Begay, Esther Kirk, Etta Yazzie, Leslie Boone, Clara Tsosie, Lynette Walking Eagle, Weldon Comes Flying, Many Relatives and Friends who were a part of Misty’s life.

Casket bearers Nate Johnson, Yamni Roach, Miranda Redday, Gayla Black Horn, Misty Renville, Lisa Benard, Tonna Oliver and Bonna Johnson.

Funeral service for Misty Begay will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 12:00 Noon at the Long Hollow District Center, Sisseton, SD. Jr. Heminger CRE will officiate and The River will be the Drum Group.

Wake service will be held on Monday, December 27th at 6:00 PM at the Long Hollow District Center. An all-night wake will be held Tuesday, December 28th at the Long Hollow District Center.

Interment will be held at the Repatriation/Traditional Burial Grounds, Sisseton, South Dakota.
