Shirley Ann Smith, Ogimaa Migizi Ikwe "Chief Eagle Woman", Mink Clan, age 55, of Red Lake, MN, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, December 11, 2021.

Shirley was born on July 27, 1966, in Bemidji, MN, to Theresa (Mason) and Myron Smith. She grew up in St. Paul and later the Red Lake area. She worked as a paraprofessional at Red Lake Elementary School for several years. Shirley was an excellent cook who could whip up something from nothing. She enjoyed playing the slots at the casino, loved to go shopping, especially for shoes and purses. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being a grandma.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Shanea Smith, Dustin (Delores) Jourdain and Alicia (Jesus) Ybarra; siblings: Duane (Sandy) Smith, Sr., Marlin (Marilee) Smith, Sandra Berlin and Anthony "Tony" Smith; grandchildren: Elijah, Myah, Blayze, Marti, Jaycee, Kylie, Wyatt, Precious, Dustin, Mason, Aziaunna and Myron; lifelong friend, Reginald Beaulieu; special friend, Ron Longclaws; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded by her parents, Theresa and Myron Smith; siblings: Wayne Smith, Sr., and David Meader-Smith; grandparents, Amo and Gladys Beaulieu; aunts: Pauline Tiegland and Maryjane Stillday; nephew, Daniel Smith and niece, Justine Smith

The wake will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. Active casketbearers will be: Delwyn Smith, Duane Smith, Jr., Douglas Smith, Elijah Cloud, Blayze Cloud, Gary Tiegland, Shane Tiegland, Avery Smith and Ronald Longclaws. Honorary casketbearers will be: Maureen Beaulieu, Mary Ellen Cook-Stillday, Sherilyn Neadeau, Sandy Cobenais, Myah Cloud, Rodney Stillday, Sr., Michelle Strong, Nicole Stillday, Kayln Sargent, Marilee Strong, Debbie Tiegland, Tessa Smith, Shayna Smith, Patsy Fisher and Sandra Berlin.
