Secretary Haaland to Deliver Opening Remarks, Participate in White House Tribal Nations Summit

WASHINGTON — Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and Department leaders will participate in the White House Tribal Nations Summit this week, which brings government officials and leaders from federally recognized Tribes together to discuss ways the federal government can invest in and continue to strengthen the nation-to-nation relationship and ensure that progress in Indian Country endures for years to come.

On November 15 around 10:30 AM ET, Secretary Haaland will deliver opening remarks to kick-off the Summit. From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET, she will also participate in panel discussions with cabinet and Tribal leaders on issues including Native American education, Native languages, and public safety and justice.

On November 16 around 1:00 PM ET, Secretary Haaland will host a Listening Session with Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland and other administration leaders to hear directly from Tribal leaders.

Other Department leadership — including Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau, Solicitor Bob Anderson, Deputy Solicitor for Indian Affairs Ann Marie Bledsoe Downes, and Senior Advisor for Alaska Affairs Raina Thiele — will also participate in Summit events.

All events will be livestreamed on Interior’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
