Cecil Revere (Westerman) Longie Sr., "Kangi Duta" (Red Crow) began his journey to the Spirit World on November 9th, 2021. Cecil was born in Fort Totten, ND to Emily (Adams) Westerman and Christ Westerman Sr. on June 12th, 1951. Cecil was the great-grandson of Wahpetunwan Chief, Kangi Duta. At a very young age, Cecil lost his mother. He was then raised by his grandparents Louis and Frances Longie, Florence (Longie) Blackbird, along with many other relatives. In his earlier years, Cecil attended school at St. Michael's Mission in St. Michael's, ND. He graduated from Maddock High School in Maddock, ND, class of 1972.

Cecil then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps right after high school and was stationed in Barstow, CA. After his separation from the U.S.M.C, he spent a couple years in California with his older brother, Floyd Westerman before returning to Spirit Lake Nation in the late 70's.

From his first marriage, Cecil fathered Robert, Rhonda and Michelle Smith. Then, in 1983, he met Carol Davis. They were united in marriage on December 14th, 1985. They built their home in Spirit Lake and together had 10 children; Allen (Alfred), Cecil Jr., Billy, Emily, Honey, Dulin, Calee, Tresa, Daisy, and Ethan Longie. He loved and cared for his family unconditionally, and was always willing to help someone in need. Cecil worked many different jobs throughout his life, which included private contractor, restaurant owner, teacher's aide, child care worker, juvenile probation officer, assembler, plumber, construction worker, wildland firefighter, ambulance driver, and so many more. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family. When his wife fell ill, he took on 2-3 jobs to make sure his family's needs were met.

Cecil loved working on vehicles, building things, playing cards, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Cecil loved visiting with family members and close friends about the good ole days.

Cecil is survived by his sister, Phylomena Black, brother, Maynard Budreaux, sons; Robert Smith, Allen (Alfred) (Karen) Thompson Jr., Billy Longie Sr., Cecil (Jennifer) Westerman-Longie Jr., Dulin Longie and Ethan Longie, daughters; Rhonda Smith, Michelle Smith, Honey Longie, Emily Longie, Calee Longie, Tresa (Devin) Greywater, Daisy (Morris) Longie, and 45 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Cecil will be welcomed home by his beloved Wife Carol, Mother Emily, Grandparents; Louis and Frances Longie, Samuel and Justine Adams, Brothers; Christ and Floyd Westerman, Sisters; Bertha (Westerman) Williams, Imogene Westerman, Patti Christensen, Uncles; Norman Adams, Lazarus Adams, Aunts; Corrine Blackbird, grandchild Valentine Josephine Longie, and Special friend John "Jack" Bradley Dauphinais.

Services: Visitation and prayer services will be held in Sisseton, SD on Saturday November 13th, 2021 from 4pm-8pm.

Then on November 14th, 2021 wake services will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center in Fort Totten, ND from 4pm-12am, with Funeral Services on Monday, November 15th, 2021 at 10:00am.

Music: All Drum Groups and Singers are welcome to share their songs in memory of Cecil.
