A preview: 2021 White House Tribal Nations Summit

The White House Tribal Nations Summit provides a chance for tribal leaders to sit down with President Joe Biden and senior members of his executive office. This year's virtual summit takes place on Nov. 15 and 16.

Joining us is Libby Washburn who is a citizen of the Chickasaw nation and serves as a special assistant to the president for Native Affairs under the White House Domestic Policy Council. Also joining us is PaaWee Rivera who is a citizen of the Pueblo of Pojoague and senior advisor in the White House’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. They give us a preview of this year's summit, saying Indian Country can expect to hear some major announcements.

Derrick Watchman, Navajo, is one of five people serving on the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission. The commission is tasked with choosing how the Congressional and state district lines are drawn to accommodate the number of voters in each area. He tells us about what this will mean for Arizona's 22 tribal nations.
