Minnesota celebrates relaxed restrictions as Canadians cross into U.S
DULUTH – In true Minnesota fashÂion, a moose-cosÂtumed huÂman greetÂed the first CaÂnaÂdiÂans across the U.S. borÂder at the Grand PorÂtage crossÂing MonÂday.
For the first time in nearÂly 20 months, fullÂy vacÂciÂnatÂed CaÂnaÂdiÂans can enÂter the UnitÂed States to shop, travÂel and see famÂiÂly, the start to a much-needÂed boost for Minnesota tourÂism, said LinÂda Jurek, the VisÂit Cook County exÂecÂuÂtive diÂrecÂtor who dressed as the moose. "We're reÂalÂly jazzed about welÂcomÂing peoÂple back," she said.
Gov. Tim Walz even proÂclaimed MonÂday "CaÂnaÂdiÂan Travelers Day" in Minnesota. "We welÂcome CaÂnaÂdiÂans back to Minnesota with open arms," reads the procÂlaÂmaÂtion.
