Steven Jay Leaf, 42 of Fort Totten passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021.

Steven Jay Leaf, born to the late Dean and Rita (LaCroix) Leaf on July 10, 1979, in Moorhead MN. Steve grew up in Saint Michael. He loved working on vehicles and construction work. He mostly enjoyed being with his children and watching them grow. Steve lived a quiet life and loved his family. He worked at the Spirit Lake Casino for a few years and after that he worked at various jobs around North Dakota.

Steve's family will miss him dearly but we know he is in a better place with his relatives.

Steve is survived by his children Curt, Kirk, Aiden, Bianca and Scarlett Leaf; adopted son Ethan Buckley; significant other Angel Buckley; brothers Ryan (Devonne Robertson) Leaf, Michael (Nicole Solwey) Leaf; sisters Angela (Dave Bodnar) Leaf and Elizabeth (Clemens) Schneibel; uncles Ross Leaf, Rodney Leaf, Kenneth LaCroix and Sylvester LaCroix; aunts Patty Leaf, Darlene (Doug) Gellar, Lois (Keith) Leben and Melody Mortenson; nephews O'Shea Redfox, Tyrese Leaf, Ryan Leaf Jr., James Leaf, Tristen Leaf, Riley Leaf and Jarrett Bodnar; nieces Jolie Leaf, Carmen Leaf, Rayanne Leaf, Makayla Leaf, Madison Leaf, DaNe'sha Leaf, Melissa Olson, Oaklee Schneibel, Brynlee Schneibel and Chloe Bodnar along with numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Rita, uncles Jim Leaf, Gary Leaf, Stanley LaCroix and Joseph LaCroix, aunts Pat LaCroix and Joy Leaf, maternal and paternal grandparents, niece Sophia Leaf and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with a time of Prayer and Remembrance at 6:00 p.m. There will be a private family burial in St. Michael's Cemetery on Wednesday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m.

Active Casket Bearers will be O'Shea Redfox, Tyrese Leaf, James Leaf, Ryan Leaf Jr., Randy Denne and Barry DeMarrias. Honorary Bearers will be Dereck Ironhawk, Bennett Blackbird, Rainie OldRock, and Kenny Baker Jr. Special thanks to Spirit Lake EMS and the Fort Totten Police Department.
