Bret D. Porter, age 31 of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born July 27, 1990, in Duluth. Bret was a loving father and the youngest son. He was studying bridge building Bret was a professional Fighter, wild firefighter, and anesthesiologist. Bret enjoyed hunting, fishing, gathering, dancing, and praying and was a member of Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and resided in Sawyer his whole life.

Bret was preceded in death by his parents, Darryl Porter and Betty Greensky, niece, Ariel. He is survived by two daughters, who meant the world to him, Nina Rose Porter, and Isabella Porter; one brother, Greg Porter; two sisters, Stacie Jo Porter and Michelle LaDue; uncles, Joseph Porter and William Greensky; aunt, Vivian Carlson; great nephew, Chance Merrill; and will be sadly missed by friends and family.

A Ceremonial Fire will be through Saturday in Sawyer at Charlie Naugauab's residence. A Traditional Visitation will begin on Friday, November 5, 2021at 4:00 p.m. at the Fond Du Lac Reservation Cultural Center and continue until the Traditional Service at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021. Interment will follow at the Sawyer Cemetery.
