JOB TITLE: Intern Teachers (7 positions)

BUILDING: Variable: dependent on licensure and need

REPORTS TO: Building Principal during each intern assignment

TERMS: Per Teacher's Master Agreement

Time: One Semester Hire (Fall or Spring)

JOB PURPOSE: The Intern Teacher position is designed to give newly licensed teachers or individuals with four year degrees, who could get a Tier 1 license, the experience working with students in Red Lake Schools

Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's Degree.

2. Not a currently or previously employed as a teacher in ISD#38.

3. The candidate should have completed a teacher preparation program within the last four

years. Experience working with minority and/or academically and economically disadvantaged students desirable.

4. The candidate should possess and demonstrate considerable knowledge of effective and varied teaching strategies, classroom accommodations, modifications, and varied assessment techniques.

5. The candidate must possess ability to effectively observe student performance and provide feedback to the cooperating teacher, parents, and administration to improve teaching and learning.

6. The candidate must possess ability to effectively organize and present information both orally and in writing.

7. The candidate must demonstrate ability to work effectively with others, including students, parents, and colleagues.

8. The candidate should possess knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation of data to drive appropriate instructional and behavioral interventions.

Essential Duties:

1. The Intern Teacher will collaborate with the cooperating teachers to develop and deliver lessons to the students assigned.

2. The Intern Teacher will be assigned to a variety of placements (with cooperating teachers) according to the needs of the students and the district.

3. The Intern Teacher provides direct services to identified students that may include instruction, monitoring academic progress, and problem-solving strategies.

4. The Intern Teacher works with the cooperating teachers in the identification and development of individualized academic interventions using research-based/evidence-based strategies intended to accelerate learning and achievement.

5. The Intern Teacher works with the cooperating teachers in collecting required documentation, to include: appropriate analysis of student progress, planning for and implementing academic achievement plans, and conducting data collection.

6. The Intern Teacher collaborates with administration, cooperating teachers, and special education staff to identify, plan, and implement professional development activities and determine follow-up as needed.

7. The Intern Teacher will meet regularly with the Principal, Cooperating Teacher(s) and Instruction Coach to reflect and development improvement strategies.

8. The Intern Teacher assists cooperating teachers in the development of instructional materials, accommodations, modifications, and assessments needed for students who are educated in the general education classroom setting.

9. The Intern Teacher provides information to the InSIGHT (pre-referral team), eligibility determination, and IEP meetings when necessary in order to ensure a proper continuum of services across general and special education.

10. Other duties related to the position as assigned per specific building placement, academic area of intervention, and Tiered level of student support being provided.
