Brittany Jo Whiteshield, 30 of St. Michael, ND passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Tekakwitha Center in St. Michael, ND from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Friday at 4:30 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass.

Brittany Jo was born on September 8, 1991 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake to Alvin Owlboy Sr. and Myrna Whiteshield. She was the oldest of 5 children they had together. Brittany was adopted by Monica Owlboy who loved her as her own. Brittany attended Four Winds School. She played football for Four Winds, she was number 51. Brittany graduated with the class of 2010. Brittany grew up traveling to Pow-Wows and becoming a Jingle Dress Dancer. She and her younger sister Danielle both were dancers, and were very close, spending time together through the years.

Brittany met the love of her life Jarret Cook in 2005 at a school dance. They were the proud parents of Kayonna and Jayden. Brittany's children were her whole world and she was the best mother she could be to her kids. She loved spending time with them and loved hearing about their day and what they were doing.

Brittany was a very caring and kind, fun, enjoyable, generous, beautiful person who loved to dress up and spend time with her sisters, brothers and friends. She loved to make everyone laugh and smile. She worked for a time at Spirit Lake Casino and at the new Headstart. Brittany loved to clean and cook at Colleen Cook's, her mother-in-law's house.

Brittany Jo will always be with us. She will always be in our hearts and she will be greatly missed by her family which include her mother Myrna Whiteshield; her grandmother Lillie Owlboy; children Kayonna Whiteshield Cook and Jayden Cook; mother-in-law Colleen Alberts-Cook, sisters Samantha Owlboy, Danielle (Marcus) Owlboy and Tara Jackson; brothers Jeff Whiteshield, Alvin Owlboy Jr., Joseph Yankton, Kalem Jackson and adopted brother Wesley BirdHorse; grandparents Sheila Thompson, Joanne Belgarde, Louella "Lulu" Thompson, Imogene Belgarde, Arlene Belgarde, Audrey Belgarde, Larry Belgarde, Alfred "Fats" Thompson, Francis Brown and Philip "Skip" Longie; aunties Chepa Owlboy, Bonnie Owlboy, Lisa Owlboy, Cheryl Belgarde, Jada Longie, Kasey Lovejoy, Fanette Lovejoy and Ivy Lovejoy; uncles Peter Owlboy Sr., Francis Owlboy Jr., Lonnie Owlboy, Lorman Owlboy Sr., Keith Longie and Gerald Longie and many nieces and nephews.

Those who have gone home to their Creator. Her Dad, Alvin Owlboy Sr., grandpas Francis Owlboy Sr., Frank and Mary Lovejoy, sisters Felicia Owlboy and Nicole Bear, brothers Dalton Whiteshield and Dillion Whiteshield, aunt Monica Owlboy Thompson, her love Jarret Cook, uncle Jamie Lovejoy, nieces Heaven Lee BirdHorse and Kayonica Lee BirdHorse.

Casket Bearers will be Jeff Whiteshield, Alvin Owlboy Jr., Marcus Robertson, Allen Little, Peter Owlboy Sr. and Jaydean Alberts. Honorary Bearers are all of Brittany's dear friends, relatives and adopted family. A special thank-you to the ICU staff at Sanford Medical Center.
