LEAD TEACHER

MINO BIMAADIZIWIN CHILD CARE CENTER MINNEAPOLIS

Open: September 7, 2021 – Until filled

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Lead Teacher provides leadership and oversight of the center, supports and supervises staff, fosters culturally informed developmentally appropriate activities, promotes the health, nutrition, education of the children and attends to their safety and welfare. Works with children from infancy to school age. Reports to the Director, full-time position with benefits, salary: DOQ

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Part A Implements Educational program for children assigned

• Utilize developmentally appropriate practices an guidance

• Maintains a healthy emotional climate in the classroom setting

• Complete student records and reports accurately with the communication tool

• Completes weekly preparation of lesson plans and materials

• Promotes a culturally informed curriculum

Part B promotes staff development

• Attend all in-service sessions and staff meetings

• Track and support staff on evaluations

• Plan and make available required training

• Must be familiar with performance standards and policies

• Responsible for maintaining monthly program records and reports as designated

• Maintains organizational properties of classroom environment

Part C Documentation and other needs

• Follow the recommendations of Administrative staff when programming improvements are needed

• Promotes the center philosophy among staff, parents, and community

• Promotes culturally informed curriculum

• Maintains strict confidentiality at all times

• Occasionally provide non-traditional child care hours

• Maintains professional communication among staff and parents

• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Child Care Development Certificate (CDA) or Associate's Degree (Early Childhood Education)

• Three to Five years of successful work experience in a formal daycare or preschool setting

• Must be flexible, self-starter

• Must possess a Minnesota Driver's License

• Must be able to lift 70 pounds

• Must complete both CPR and First Aide Training upon hiring

• Negative TB test prior to employment

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check

• Must have Covid Vaccine

• Comply with Covid 19 requirement to ensure health and safety for staff, children, and parents.
