PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible to establish services for battered women and their children by providing advocacy, transportation, 24-hours crisis line, legal advocacy, support groups, volunteer safe homes, community education sessions, reports to Executive Administrator, full-time position with benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Establish a program for 24-hours crisis line with an 800 number available

• Provide leadership and direction for fiscal management and health of organization including, but not limited to: grant writing, fundraising, public relations, staff supervision, budget administration and training.

• Seek, prepare and submit grant applications to obtain federal, state, and outside funding to support existing operations and capital needs.

• Drive a strategic planning process, identifying creative and innovative ways to maintain EWWS vital and influential leadership in the field

• Build and sustain relationships across government agencies, and community, state and national organizations to stay informed of emerging issues

• Plan, Coordinate and oversee Cultural/Traditional customs into the EWWS program

• Participate in collaborative efforts with other national organizations to advance public policy in support of victims of gender based violence

• Oversee an organizational communications plan that effectively promotes the EWWS programming and services to the field, and advocated for changes in public policy and institutional practices that better protect victims and their families

• Directly supervise program advocates and other staff as needed or assigned. Is responsible for oversight of all employees.

• Works proactively to develop positive relationships with participants, peers, employees and volunteers

• Oversee/administer employee disciplinary action, up to including termination of employment, ensuring that actions adhere to approved policy

• Establish legal advocacy services to battered women on the Red Lake Reservation

• Research and create an orientation/training packet for staff and volunteers

• Motivates, mentors and assists employees/colleagues to achieve their individual and organizational goals

• Champions advocacy initiatives that align with and/or promote EEWS mission, vision and core values

• Preforms other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, legal studies, criminal justice, political science, feminist studies, or related field at minimum, advanced degree desired

• Involvement in, or understanding of and commitment to legal reform, with policy experience at the federal, tribal and or/state level

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including respect and compassion for others, approachability, and comfort in leading difficult conversations when necessary

• Experience with and commitment to integrating equity and inclusion principles into an organization's culture

• Demonstrated success at raising funds, diversifying funding streams and seeking new ways to support program work

• Demonstrated success in maintaining fiscal stability

• Knowledge of the mission, organization, program requirements and policy of Tribal programs

• Must possess skills in the effective and diplomatic oral and written communications in dealing with various people and organizations

• Experience/knowledge in the area of services for battered women and their children

• Knowledge of practices in this field and willingness/ability to adapt those practices to a program that addresses the Red Lake Reservation
