RED LAKE, MN - A confirmed tornado was reported by law enforcement about 33 miles north of Bemidji, with extremely high winds reported around 5 PM on Monday, July 26, 2021. This included the Red Lake and Redby areas on the Red Lake Indian Reservatuib, causing thousands of dollars in damages to buildings, motor vehicles and other structures and property, as well as numerous power outages..

This dangerous system was moving east at about 35 mph.

There were several reports of golf-ball sized hail and damaging winds that had desecrated homes and vehicles.

At this time, there were no reports of injuries caused by the storm.

Red Lake Conservation Law Enforcement reported on their Facebook page: We had a bad storm today that turned in to a tornado. Many homes are still without power but Beltrami Electric is working on getting everyone up and running. Today we seen the best side of Red Lake. Big shout out to Red Lake Fire Department, Red Lake Fire Center Wild Land Firefighters, Red Lake Roads Department and the Red Lake Police Department. Many different programs coming together with the help of private community members helping out citizen's homes, driveways and removing trees from homes, as well as the public roadways. Not a single person or program could have done it alone in such short notice as quickly as it was handled. There is still a lot of work to be done that will be tackled tomorrow.

Miigwech Red Lake Nation for showing we stand together, always ready to help each other.
