Frieda Rose Lewis, "Makoonsikwe" 68, of Ogema, MN died Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Biimaadiiziiwiin Senior Housing in Ogema.

Traditional Services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. A wake will begin at 11:00am, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN, and will continue until the time of the service. Arrangements are with the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

She was born on September 24, 1952, in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Elizabeth Greenleaf and Herbert Smith. She was raised and educated in Red Lake, MN. She attended Hill High School in Maplewood, MN, and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1970. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church of Pony Lake while growing up, she had a strong faith in her higher power. She lived throughout Minnesota in her early adult years. She traveled to Hawaii a couple times, and eventually moved to Oaha, HI for 3 years and was the most content and happy, enjoying the land with friends and her daughter. She moved back to Minnesota and spent the remaining years of her life with family and friends. She loved playing scrabble, reading, playing sports in her younger years, and had a big heart for animals. She was a fan of Star Trek, and a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and the Hobbit. She was a very beautiful person who went through her life facing many tragedies, but we have happy memories of her, and she was loved by many.

Caiden Knittel of Bemidji, MN,

Triston Knittel of Bemidji, MN,

Soren Hansen of Bemidji, MN,

Brother, Herbert Smith,

Aunt, Avanell Greenleaf,

Numerous cousins, and adoptive Lewis Family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Emma Gibbs and Peter Greenleaf, parents Elizabeth Greenleaf and Herb Smith, adoptive mother Agnes Lewis, sister Alfreda McKenzie, brother EJ Smith, other siblings that she never got to know, Special Aunts Marci Howard Greenleaf, Lavonne Whitefeather Greenleaf, Special Uncles Lance Greenleaf, Lars Greenleaf, Peter Greenleaf, and numerous other aunts and uncles.

Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Frieda's Grandchildren.

Active Casketbearers will be: Matthew Hopkins Sr., Ben Hopkins, Matthew Hopkins Jr., Aaron Weitzel, Dylan Hopkins, and Triston Knittel.
