"Smile" - New Single from Indian City Shares Message of Optimism and Love Post-COVID

(WINNIPEG, Manitoba, July 29, 2021) - As people across the world start to emerge from the 2020-2021 pandemic, Vince Fontaine's Indian City band shares a positive, lighthearted message with a new single, titled "Smile."

"Smile" - an irresistible summer pop song filled with optimism and love post-COVID - is the highly-anticipated, first single since Indian City's 2017 JUNO-nominated album, "Here & Now." The album won numerous awards in Canada and the U.S., including a Native American Music Award in 2018.

The effects and overall impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which began in early 2020, were devastating for musicians. This past spring, Indian City founder and band leader Fontaine, felt a renewed sense of hope as the pandemic was finally being brought under control with successful public health measures and solutions.

Fontaine started looking ahead to a post-COVID world and began writing new songs expressing his optimism. "During the pandemic I would go to the mall and, of course, see everyone wearing masks," says Fontaine. "But I would still be able to see their eyes and could tell if they were smiling."

"The song speaks to love, attraction and the beauty of a smile," says Fontaine. "I get lost simply when you smile..., 'more than words could ever say...'"

"Smile" will be included on Indian City's new album, "Code Red," scheduled for release in October 2021. "Indian City is looking forward to sharing positive messages, which will remind people of the importance of the simple things in life that make it worth living," says Fontaine. "Some of our themes for the new album include optimism, hope, inclusion, understanding and beginning to live again post-COVID."
