Eric Ethan Bankey, age 48, of Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Eric was born on July 28, 1972, in Cloquet, to Russell and Sandra (Johnson) Bankey. Eric was an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. He grew up in Cloquet, earned his high school GED and later an AA degree. Eric is fondly remembered as a strong-willed person with an adventurous nature. He was proud of his only son Eric and of his Native heritage. He was a loving and caring man who tried to help others when needed. Eric valued family and had a grateful spirit.

Eric will be greatly missed by his son Eric Bankey; Angel Skipintheday (daughter of the heart); mother Sandra (Gary) Curry; Father Russell (Anna) Bankey; brothers Michael Bankey, Gabriel (Cinnamon) Bankey, and Mathew (Samantha) Bankey; sisters Anna Matakis and Jessica (Tim) Krueger-Veurink; a special mother Dianna Krueger; special aunt Marge Clark; special nieces Aleeri, Aikley and Graylin; and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and special aunt Melly.

A wake for Eric will begin Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 7:00pm, at the Fond du Lac Cultural Center in Cloquet, and will continue until his service on Monday, July 26, at 10:00am. Charles Smith will serve as spiritual leader. Pallbearers will be Christopher Johnson-Fuller, Dominic Johnson-Fuller, Elki Johnson, Charlie Badmoccosin, and Tim Veurink. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Fuller, Jeff Johnson, Elon Johnson, Darrell Alvarado, Tim Fuller, Terry Merchensen. Burial will follow in the Indian Hill Cemetery in Brookston, Minnesota.
