Michael "Tanner" Bellanger

January 03, 1996 - July 14, 2021

Michael “Tanner” Bellanger, age 25, of Waubun, MN, died on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Michael Tanner Bellanger was lovingly welcomed into this world on January 3, 1996, the first child and only son, born to Michael and Theresa (Nelson) Bellanger. When he was six months old, they moved to the White Earth area where Tanner grew up and welcomed two little sisters. When he was little, Tanner attended daycare getting lots of love and attention from Jamie Weigel, Julie Jasken and Annie Haverkamp. He went to White Earth Head Start, Ogema Elementary and Waubun High School, where he was very active. He loved sports, especially football, basketball, and softball. He was also involved in knowledge bowl, the environmental team, and various other school activities. Tanner was everyone’s friend and was proudly crowned the SnoDaze King his senior year. Following his graduation in 2014, Tanner attended Minnesota State Technical College and received his Automotive Service Technology degree. While in school, he worked at the Detroit Lakes Walmart Automotive department and later Weber Ford. Most recently, Tanner was employed with the White Earth Fleet department.

Tanner was the light and energy in every room. He was always hanging out with his friends, teasing his sisters, and making his family laugh. He was a prankster through and through. Tanner was especially close to his nephew, “baby” Tanner, whom he loved spending time with. He also enjoyed playing video games. Tanner was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent hours fishing locally, both in the summer and hardwater ice fishing, and looked forward to fishing trips in Saskatchewan. Tanner was a jack of all trades, and with a heart of gold, he was willing to help anyone in need. Tanner’s parents, sisters, his dog Madox, and his host of many friends and family members will greatly miss him and forever cherish that he was a part of their lives. His precious memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Tanner is survived by his parents, Michael and Theresa Bellanger of Waubun; two sisters, Josie Bellanger of Mahnomen and Gabrielle “Gabby” Bellanger of Waubun; two half-sisters, Heidi (Justin) Oien of Bismarck, ND and Lindsay Bellanger of St. Paul; his grandma; Margaret Nelson of Walcott, ND; nephew, Tanner LeRoy Bray; niece, Elyse Oien; and his uncles and aunts: Joe (Angie) Nelson of Fargo, ND, Vicki (Mike Kappes) Bellanger of Waubun, and Patti (David) DeGroat of Ogema; as well as many cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lowell and Marge Bellanger; his grandpa, Charles Nelson; cousins: Neil, Kelsey and Aiyana Englund; and several dear friends.
