Darla Marie Badmoccasin, Waasekamigaabawiikwe "she who lights the path," 52, started her journey to the spirit world on June 10, 2021.

She was born on February 11, 1969, to Linda Shabaiash and Harold "Art" Diver, Sr. in Sandstone, Minnesota.

Darla loved her grandkids, kids and her true love Charles since 1984. She loved powwows, traveling, going to the casino, make-up, Loretta Lynn, country music and the 80's era.

Family that welcomes Darla into the spirit world are her parents; Linda Shabaiash and Harold "Art" Diver, Sr., and brother Darwin Diver.

Darla is survived by her husband Charles Sr., sons; Charles "Bubb" Badmoccasin, Jr., and Nicholas Ammesmaki, daughters; Ashley Ammesmaki (Lee Roy), Kristina Ammesmaki and Cheyenne Ammesmaki, brothers; Harold Diver, Jr., Douglas Diver and Darrell Shabaiash (Missy), sisters; Deb Diver and Doreen Diver (Kevin), grandchildren; Isaiah, Zoe, Lavaya, Ty'leiona, Darwin, Xavier, Zayla, Zariah, Ne'vaylei and Cassidy.

An overnight wake for Darla will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Monday, June 14th all taking place at the Language Cultural Building, 1713 Mizhakii Rd, Cloquet, MN. Her spiritual leader is Vincent Merrill. Helping to lay Darla to rest are Leander Mountain, Eric Rilling, Corey Van Guilder, Casey Shabaiash, John "Jumbo" Forneris, Marco Shabaiash, Brian "Muck" Shabaiash and Brian Stillday. Honorary pallbearers are Codey Diver, Vickie Smith, Nicole "Koko" Ammesmaki, Denise "Sis" Olson, Rhonda Jones and Shelia Brown. Burial will be in the Sawyer Cemetery in Sawyer, MN following her Monday service.
