Michael Roy, 47, of Red Lake, MN died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center.

Traditional funeral services will be held begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the new Redby Community Center in Redby, MN. A wake will begin at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021 and continue until the time of the service.

He was born February 24, 1974 in Red Lake, MN the son of Victor Roy Sr. and Judy (Lawrence) Roy. He was raised and educated on the Red Lake reservation; graduating from Red Lake High School. He enjoyed being a fitness coach; especially with the elderly clients. He was a junior high coach for basketball and football. Michael loved traditional singing and belonged to the Eyabay and Battle River singers for many years. He also enjoyed attending concerts with his brother and his friends. Although there was only his brother Vic, Michael belonged to a mighty brotherhood of friends. He provided traditional spiritual teaching, including the granting of Ojibwe names for friends and family. He was our family pipe carrier for the Prentice and Hallett pipe, as passed on from Aunt Susan Hallett.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Roy, brother, Victor Roy, Jr., honorary sister Cheyenne King, nephews, Logan and Bronson, niece, Victoria, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Active Casketbearers with be Charlie Norris, Gary Jourdain,Jr., Wes Jourdain, Kevin Kingbird, Darrell "Sparky" Seki, Jr., and Greg Thomas.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Kevin Spears, Rob Maxwell, Jeff Roy, Cheyenne King, Ron Lussier, Derrick Seki, Mike Jourdian, Jr., Keveon Kingbird, Mack Kingbird, Don Kingbird, and Roger White, Jr.
