Lillian Jo Ruffin "Onaagoshin Anang Ikwe" journeyed to the spirit world on May 15, 2021 at the age of 40. Queen Lil Ruffin was born Lillian Jo Jackson on Friday March 13, 1981 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota to Brenda Jean Jackson (mother). The youngest of five children, Lil grew up on the south side of Minneapolis. At age five Lil unexpectedly lost her mother which sparked a chain of events that would shape Lil into the person we all know today. After going from home to home in foster care Lil finally resided with her immediate family Martha Ruby Percy (grandma) Kathy Marie Percy (aunt). In her younger years she attended Holy Angels where she enjoyed playing volleyball.
At 20 years old she gave birth to her first daughter Princess Ledayah Jean Jackson. Working hard as a single mother she met the love of her life Anthony Ruffin while working at Cub Foods on East Lake Street. The two became an immediate connection and got married May of 2005. Over the years they would go on to have five more children: Beauty Anieyah Chilay Ruffin, Angel Shamiah Marie Ruffin, Sunshine Laylah Sky Ruffin, Diamond Sidaynah Dawn Brenda Andreyah Ruffin, and Heart Love Amorah Royal Ruffin. Through our this time Lil was dedicated to raising her daughters, being a Glamma (Lovey), sister, aunty, friend, mentor, and life coach to all in need. She enjoyed driving, traveling, listening to music, fashion, cooking, writing poems, and growing and sharing her spirituality.
On May 15, 2021 Lil lost her long battle to diabetes. She was preceded in death and joined in heaven with her Grandmother Martha Percy; Mother Brenda Jackson; sister Dana Mosley; aunts Kathy Percy, Marjorie Tyson and Carol Percy; Uncles Michael Percy and Robert Percy.
She leaves behind Anthony Ruffin; her daughters Ledayah, Anieyah, Shamiah, Laylah, Sidaynah, and Amorah; her siblings Curtis, Angela, and Sharice; her uncle Daniel; her nieces Laurice, and Latisha; her nephews Skyler, Anthony, Tyrell, Angelo, Lawrence, Isaiah, and Brenden; her granddaughters Evangeline and Robyn; her honorary daughters Essence and Gabrielle; and many loving cousins, relatives, and friends.
