14-year-old killed in shooting at Woodbury graduation party

A 14-year-old boy who died after being shot at a graduation party in Woodbury on Saturday night has been identified by family as Demaris Nathan Hobbs-Ekdahl.

"He just went to the graduation party with his older brother and they opened fire," said aunt Katie Ekdahl. "They have got to get these kids off these streets with these guns ... This world is sickening."

During another violent weekend in Minneapolis that claimed the lives of at least three people, bloodshed spread into Woodbury, the St. Paul suburb of roughly 70,000 people. The fatal shooting is the latest gun crime against children. Recently in Minneapolis, Trinity Ottoson-Smith, 9, was shot May 15 and died two weeks later; Ladavionne Garrett Jr., 10, was shot April 30 and critically wounded; Aniya Allen, 6, died May 19, two days after being shot.
